I just wanted to give Emma a big THANK YOU for all her hard work last year 2009 and the help with
promoting our online businesses even in the middle of the credit crunch. I am so pleased with my shop and how quick you list my new items for sale. Here is to a good New Year for us all.

Hi Alison,You will find a craft that you enjoy and one that you can sell. I used to do machine knitting but I had a problem with a frozen shoulder the machine was too heavy for me to use so I tried making jewellery so did the world and his wife I love hand knitting but it is very time consuming I now just knit for my family. I have got into machine embroidery which is very popular in Canada and America. I love going to craft fairs especially as I get to meet lots of other craft people.

Hi, I thought I'd have a look at the forum after Emma's Christmas e mail. I'm new to this kind of thing although I use
facebook. It has been good to me. I've actually sold some of my work via it. My problem is a hobby that has got out of hand. I do not **** being idle and it means that I have craft work (cards and jewellery) taking up space at home. I haven't done many Craft Fayres in fact I organise one myself each year in aid of a charity. The problem seams to be that at local craft fayres there are so many folk making cards and jewellery that organisers don't want anymore. I used to do machine knitting but found that it wasn't selling so stopped perhaps I should go back to it. I did jackets and jumpers and childrens things.

Hello!
I have recently started a blog, www.domesticcraft.blogspot.com. I have set up this blog as a way of gathering information and meeting people with an interest in domestic craft skills. By domestic craft skills I mean traditional skills traditionally undertaken at home, such as; Knitting, crotchet, weaving, dress making, felting, lace making, embroidery, sewing, beading etc... I have chosen to write my dissertation for my degree on the subject, so am looking to find out what people are doing, making, teaching, learning and thinking about the subject. I am in my final year at Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art studying Jewellery and metal design. I want the blog to be a place for people interested in domestic crafts to show their work and discuss ideas. I could really do with some images of domestic craft work, If you have any images I could post on the blog or if you could forward this email on to friends or members of your association/ society I would be very grateful! I also have a questionnaire on the blog and am keen for people of all craft abilities to complete it. Often there is a line drawn between domestic crafts/ hobby crafts and professional designer makers I want to break down any barriers and share our experiences and stories of making things. The blog is for people who enjoy knitting jumpers, making lace borders or who like spinning wool etc, but is also aimed at people who are redefining what domestic craft actually is or people who are using traditional domestic craft skills in new and innovative ways. Please have a look at the blog and let me know what you think!
Many thanks

Hi there, Sharon from Knitknacks here. I think I'm one of the newest crafters on the site, so thought I should say Hello. I'm delighted with all that Emma has done for me and for the site - how does she do it?!
I've only been doing this for about 5 months or so, so am relatively new to the whole thing. Any tips from those who've been in the business for longer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Margaret from Slackstitches here. I hail from the North East of Scotland just about where it joins the Highlands. I have only been here a short time but have enjoyed being here. Great having Emma as the
oversee'er.
I have a time consuming husband and a ver time consuming Border Collie. The rest of the time I spend doing stitch craft of one kind or another. I don't do large runs of things as I like variety and individuality.
Hope to meet some new folks here.

What a great idea a forum is! In my spare time....mmmm now whats that! I like visiting website forums for a wee blether :)
So here is my introduction. I am a relatively new member of the craft world. I started up in business making tiaras and jewellery for my niece who was getting married waaaay back in 2005. But the craft that lead me to your website was my wire wrapped jewellery which I was taught by a lady in
england. Although I have sold a few pieces to people via wedding fayres I felt I needed to introduce it to the craft world where I know people are always looking for something unusual. I am a married mum of 3 teenagers(1 of which is going to be 20 this year) and a carer for my mum. Because of them the only time I have for my wee business is in the evenings which makes me seem busy.
I am looking to this forum as a way to meet other crafters and hopefully they will give me their tips and ideas on how to market this craft.
Finally Emma WOW you are providing a huge amount of work for us all and I for one really appreciate it. I run my own website where I will be adding your banner to it in the next few days and a church website but if there are no volunteers with a bit more time on their hands for the craft website then I will try and help if I can.
Nice to meet you
